An early development pitch packet from the Disney Studios animated film "Hercules" (1997). The 29-page pitch is titled "Hercules - The Nicholson Pitch - in beautiful color!" and was likely created as a concept for Jack Nicholson inspired portrayal of Hades. Dated November 16, 1994 (three years before the film's release), the pitch provides a comprehensive look at Sue Nichols' plans for the film, with colorful storyboards, historical references, character development, location references, and phenomenal concept artwork by the film's Production Designer Gerald Scarfe and Hans Bacher. Scarfe, a British artist and political cartoonist, created a thousand drawings for the film that were so inspiring to the crew that he was promoted to Production Designer. Scarfe’s stylistic influence is evident in “Hercules,” making it one of the most visually dynamic films of the Disney Renaissance. Measuring 11"x17" and 1/4" thick, the pitch is in very good condition with light age-related discoloration, creasing, edge and corner wear from handling, slight water damage to the top right corner and rust marks at the top left cover, and markings, including a graphite inscription to the back cover. This is a very rare insight into the early development of a beloved film.
